FIVE ELEMENTS YARDS

Panzhihua, Sichuan, China

Five Elements Yards is a health homestay reconstruction project, originating from the 'Wuxing' Chinese Medicine practice. Each yard has an 'element' and cures different type of illnesses. Old houses are connected by the light canopy, extending the habitable area, creating a public space and making an accessible environment for visitors.

The design is starts with a narrative about five elderly, coming to Panzhihua one clear spring day. Staying there made their health better, and also they got new friends.
